Review by Fitz – This is my third Garmin GPS. I purchased 1450LMT GPS last month. I have used it for several trips and it provides good directions. I particularly enjoy the size of the screen and the turning lane enhancement feature. I also purchased this GPS becasue of the lifetime maps. I have not updated the maps yet, so I don’t know how long that process will take. There was a brief delay in obtaining the satelite on one occassion.

No complaints so far for my GPS 1450LMT. Had a Nuvi 205 that was upgraded to this one. Love the big screen and the info that can be displayed on the side such as speed, altitude, etc. Like the speed limit reminder in the lower corner also, just too bad it only works on major roads and not all roads, but I suppose it takes time to put all that info in the software so it’s not a huge drawback. Haven’t used it for routing yet, but like my other Garmin, i’m sure it will be fine. Also no experience with the traffic feature yet also. All in all a good unit and the price was right too.

Review by MapFranz – Garmin nuvi 1450LMT is the 5th or 6th GPS I have owned and it is the best yet. I have had several other brands and I find the Garmin routing, both actual routing and time estimates, to be the most accurate I have seen.

My last Garmin did not save routes, a feature I missed dearly when on longet trips. The 1450 LMT saves up to 10 routes. I use Mapquest to plan my trips and I can download complex routes to the Garmin in seconds and save tons of time rather than doing the planning on the Garmin.

The larger screen is really a nice feature and has good visability from a wide angle, making it mice for the passenger too. A great unit, the best I have had. I would recommend this GPS to anyone.

I Love the 1450LMT‘s large screen, but have little problem moving around the touch screen. Doesn’t always respond easily, but could be the user. The warning to turn is given when I’m almost on the street. Have had to turn around & come back a couple of times. Old garmin was better. Haven’t been able to find the map back up on line yet, but again it could be me because I’m not very computer literate.

Review by Nick Alter – This garmin is my 3rd. Features not as rich as the first one bought in 2005 (Street Pilot 2620), but the convenience and ease of use largely offset. Big selling point for me is the lifetime maps and traffic. While I find the traffic info iffy… the lifetime maps can be a big money saver down the line.

Garmin 1450LMT gps grabs the signal pretty quickly, and maintains it; but the location accuracy seems not as precise as the older 2620 model. (In 2620 model, you could pull up info on how many satellites it had “captured” and give you accuracy measurement in feet.) So, compared to “good reception” in the earlier model, which might have reported “accurate to within 7 feet”, this model appears to be accurate to, at best, 15-20 feet. Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s not that unusual to be on a highway’s frontage road, and have the gps think you’re on the highway.

This is the second one I’ve bought of this GPS. My first was from best-buy, with a $40 “anything” protection plan that was useless for me after they told me that it was “user neglect” that the device got submerged in water when my delivery box truck lost control and rolled over into a flooded ditch, apparently I was supposed to secure the device in an air-tight water proof container before the wrecking of the truck?

Anyway, Amazon has them new for around $100 less than you will get retail, and apparently I don’t need anymore “anything” plans.

The 1450LMT GPS worked great, but had a few streets wrong/missing for where I live in North Dakota, having the indian BIA roads listed was a great help, but trusting it to find people in the country was a hit or miss for trying. This unit is really great too for having lifetime map updates, so yeah Id say if you want a basic GPS that’s simple to learn, take a chance with this one. Just don’t think you’re doing yourself a favor getting it at best buy for 230 with a 40 buck useless protection plan.

A tip I have for anyone is that a small object, like butt of a pen is great for going through directions, fingers are a bit clumsy on it.

Review by T. Johnson “Otavalo” – First, you need to know that I live far from the madding crowd of city life. I thought Nuvi 1450LMT wouldn’t be able to help from my little town to anywhere. I am surprised. After the initial set up it found my house. It gives great directions to anywhere, with more accurate times and miles than mapquest. I am comfortable sending it with my kids to find and go anywhere. It is a great size. When I get to wherever I want to be, it fits perfectly in my pocket. It was kind of expensive, but for the peace of mind I get for myself and my family it was well worth it.
